About Us

The Festival Group is a ‘not for profit’ Constituted organisation formed entirely of volunteers and includes local councillors as well as representatives from the Church, Theatre, Library, Schools and retail sector. It is also supported by the local MP.

The Group’s Aim is to organise an annual Festival, incorporating all forms of the “Arts”, and occasional other related events throughout the year to:

  • Bring together and celebrate the considerable creative talent within the community & surrounding area
  • Help engender community spirit by providing a totally inclusive and varied programme of events with something for all age groups
  • Help with ‘health & wellbeing’ within the community by particularly engaging with the more elderly/vulnerable and involving local schools and youth groups
  • Help rejuvenate the town for the benefit of all

The group’s intention is that the “Arts” in Bawtry & surrounding areas will be accessible to all. We try to vary the offer as much as possible and bring in new things every year as well as try to engage with all age groups.

Membership of the Group is open to any individual who is interested in helping the group achieve its aims.

How could you Help?

We have outstanding talent in Bawtry and some wonderful venues. Why not volunteer! – we are always open to new volunteers to help with the festival in some way – see examples below where help would particularly be appreciated. Just get in touch.

Are you an artist, performer or have something to offer in the arts? Then we want to hear from you.

Photographywhether you are a hobbyist or a professional we would welcome someone with a good camera and an eye for detail to take photos during the festival week, and particularly for the Sunday celebrations, so that they can be posted on the website & social media. See our advertised photography competitions in the programme.

Social Media/ Marketing – helping to keep social media ‘up to date’, namely the website, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok , and to engage in activity to maintain interest by writing articles/stories about the festival.

Management Committee  decision making skills. You might be an event planner or have business skills in running an organisation.

General helpers – particularly helping to manage the organisation & events for the weekend festivities.

Festival Parade – the festival really needs a closing parade. Can anyone offer any experience of organising parades? A Brazilian bongo band leading the parade would be good!

Thanks, Sponsorship & Support US

The festival organisation relies on considerable voluntary support & goodwill from residents, community groups and local businesses. Venues are provided free of charge, and many performing artists also donating their time freely.

A massive thank you goes to everyone involved in helping to make these events happen. Apologies as it is impossible to name everyone here but you know who you are, and without your support these events could not take place.

Special thanks to Bawtry Town Council, CDC ward councillors, Well Doncaster, Visit Bawtry (BRA) & Tickhill Lions for their continued support and to everyone else who has made financial contributions over the years. Also to this year’s programme sponsors (Ziniz and Jones & Co).

We should not forget the Bawtry Air Cadets and 12th Doncaster (Bawtry) Scouts/Cub Scouts who provide valuable support with the weekend festivities.
